10 Reasons To Live In Pattaya


  1. Consistently Good Weather
The weather of Pattaya is generally sunny and fitting of a tropical resort city. Over the course of a year the weather cycles between the hot and dry period from December to February, hot and humid from March to April, and hot and rainy period that runs from May to November. The three rainiest months of the year are found in October, September,, and May. The average temperatures of the city range from a high of 31 to 24 degrees Celsius.


  1. Beaches Within Reach
Pattaya puts its residents and guests within an easy to reach distance from multiple beaches.
  • Pattaya Beach: The most centrally located beach is Pattaya Beach that runs parallel to the center of the city.
  • Jomtien Beach: Separated from Pattaya Beach by Pratamnak Hill is Jomtien Beach. The beach has come to be known as a quieter beach than Pattaya Beach because of its location in a less densely populated area.
  • Near, Far, and Coral Islands: Off the coast of Pattaya and reachable by boats in as little as 15 minutes, many of the islands have their own beaches. Some have on island accommodations while others only allow for day trips and lack any shelter for overnight stays. However, all of the islands offer quick and easy getaways for the day.
  1. Surrounded By Numerous Golf Courses
Within 1 hour from Pattaya there are at least 21 golf courses. Many Bangkok golfers spend their weekend in Pattaya on the area courses. Additionally, the demands for upscale amenities have been noticed by operators and have become features of many area courses.
  1. International Population
Pattaya has a large population of foreign residents that come from all areas of the globe. There is also a variety of foreigner organizations and other groups that are a mix of Thais and foreign members. Some of these are professional groups, community service groups, support groups, or some are simply established for the purpose of socializing.
  1. International Foods Readily Available
No matter what kind of food you want, it can be found in Pattaya. This isn’t limited to only restaurants, but they can also be found at grocery stores. Possibly the most popular chain of grocery stores for international foods in Thailand is Villa Market. There are also a few others such as Tops and Foodland. For bulk purchases there is Makro.
  1. Not Far From Suvarnabhumi Airport
Suvarnabhumi International Airport is only about 90 minutes or 120 kilometers from the city of Pattaya. Besides Bangkok it is the closest major city to the airport and can be reached by multiple roads and a motorway.
  1. Decent Cost Of Living
The cost of living in Pattaya is generally lower than other places that offer a similar environment. Renting in Pattaya is often cheaper than in cities like Bangkok, but other areas lack the the combination of what the city has to offer with shopping, dining, entertainment, beach access, and watersports. Owning is also decent with new construction condos like the Art On The Hill condominium offering property that starts at just over 1 million Thai baht.
  1. Landmarks
Pattaya offers large number of attractions and landmarks that can be visited. Some are entertainment venues while others allow for views of the local habitats. For example the Pattaya park Tower offers dining and amusement while also nearby are botanical gardens for getting closer to the natural habitat that lies just outside of the populated city center. The city also offers pleasant views from Pratamnak Hill , underwater forays via a submarine that offers 30 minute trips into the Gulf of Thailand, or other amusement opportunities at Underwater World or Ripley’s Believe It or Not. Also popular in Pattaya is the stunning Sanctuary of Truth and the interesting Mini Siam that features miniature replicas of Thai landmarks throughout the country plus a small Mini World that features similar replicas of world landmarks.
  1. Nightlife or Quiet
The nightlife of Pattaya is well known around the world. However, living in Pattaya you will find that the city offers more than just the clubs and bars of Walking Street for its night scene. Pattaya also offers quiet and relaxing environments away from the city center and on the islands just a short distance off the coast.
  1. Good Immigration Office
Although seemingly insignificant but necessary if you plan on staying for extended period of time and are not a Thai p[assport holder. If staying in Pattaya on more than a tourist visa, you will be required to visit the immigration office every 90 days. It’s good to have an immigration office that will save you from the headaches that are spoken of by those living in areas populated with fewer foreigners.
